1. (Personal Background)
Henry Hargreaves had a rather unusual journey into photography. Working with some of the best photographers in the business, he began his career in front of the camera as a fashion model for companies like YSL and Prada. He made the decision to take advantage of his surroundings and master the craft since he was envious of their creative input. He grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand and studied from preschool all the way to University there. When he began in fashion in the early 2000’s he wanted to be the guy calling the shots behind the camera. So he went out and brought a camera and began to play and see if he could get this thing to take nice pictures.
2. (Style)
Henry Hargreaves started out trying to be a fashion photographer because that's what he knew from my modelling days. But he began getting more still-life assignments and realized he was better at it and didn’t really care too much about fashion anyway. "Slowly I began to realize it was more important to shoot pictures I wanted to see instead of images I thought others would like. I think your own voice and aesthetic needs to come through your work for it to stand out." -Henry Hargreaves
`3. (Philosophy)
Henry says it's when “you remember it after you have stopped looking at it.” He admits that a lot of his inspiration is spontaneous and sometimes has a different outcome than he expects but trying something is the only way you'll know if it works or not. He says: “ My universal piece of advice is just do something. -Henry Hargreaves
The two pictures above the colorful noodles are photos he prep to simulate what criminals who were sentenced a death sentence ate for their last meal. I also tried to replicate those two photo, plus the noodles.
Title: Steamy Ramen
This is the third photo I tried to replicate by Henry Hargreaves. The original photo shows colorful noodles in a white bowl. I surprisingly don't own a white bowl so I used a bowl similar to it's shape. I also didn't own any colorful noodles or found anything to substitute it, so I just used real noodles and used a large spoon to showcase it.
